Threw some spare tracker bars on the Yamaha. Same width as the original bars, but a bit lower. Grips were from another bike, but I think they fit this one well. I really enjoy these bars, and they make life a bit easier at highway speeds. Took her on a two hour ride around the valley. The engine handles heat and traffic well with no sign of overheating. Did accidentally rip a wheelie while cruising when it slipped out of gear and I gave it a little too much twist banging it back in.

Yamaha sure does love routing their exhausts through the middle of the frame don’t they

Yeah, and because of the pinch it requires, I have to run that muffler wide open to keep the engine breathing.

yeah, I had an XT250, had a canister muffler under the seat with exhaust coming straight out and then a 90 towards the back, header pipe curled around engine under the seat, weird, but after i took off the secondary muffler it sounded perfect, raced it in vintage motocross that way and had good success. had the first gen mono shock and it was so much lower than mx bikes in the class it handled perfect for me. the other bikes in the class had more horsepower but mine had more grunt down low. they headed for the berm on all the corners and I flat tracked under them. I wish i could find another one like it but they are so old now they are all pretty much extinct
